My review
rating: 5 of 5 starsFirst of all, the pattern that graces the cover of the book is what first sold me - I recognized it immediately as Amy Butler's fabric. The projects that are shown on the cover are pretty cute as well (think that ultra feminine baroque style that's very "in" right now).
Per usual, the book begins with an intro by the author but then delves right into the projects - Cat Wei means serious business! The projects are functional and practical, perfect for sprucing up your apartment or decorating your first home.
I am in in-love with the Patchwork Taxidermy Animal Rug, the Heartfelt Toaster, and the Oval Bird Art (who thought of painting an embroidery hoop black and using it as a trendy frame?) - Cat Wei did, of course!
I love that the book goes from varying degrees of difficulty. Some of the projects don't require sewing at all! These projects include the Oilcloth Nesting Tables, Warhol Fabric Art, the Psychedelic Decoupage Plates, the decoupage Flowerboxes, and Fresh Fabric Vases, among a few others.
The diagrams and instructions are all very clear and easy to follow. I love that the patterns are actually part of the book because you can photocopy whichever patterns you need without messing up your book or risking not being able to stuff your patterns back inside a little cardboard envelope. Maybe it's just me, but I like to keep my craft books in pristine condition.
If you love decorating with fabric, then this is the book for you (don't expect any clothing or wearable accessories here)!
